We spied this ruined castle on the way to Crammel Linn Waterfall just after we passed through the village of Greenhead. Poised on a little rise overlooking the River Tipalt, we had a venture to it on the way back.

Jul. 2021. We were walking coast to coast along Hadrian's Wall during a heatwave in July and passed by Thirlwall Castle mid-morning. We were very glad to rest and rehydrate in the shade of the castle ruins, as there's not a lot of shade on this walk! There's not a lot to see here, but the ruins are very picturesque and we took a few great photos.
